Dixon Behavioral Health was founded by Lauren Dean, a therapist inspired by the loss of a dear friend who passed away after her struggle with addiction. Her journey became a reminder of how powerful connection, compassion, and accessible care can be.
What began as a tribute has become a mission: to create a space where healing feels possible, support feels genuine, and no one has to face their pain alone.
We are committed to expanding access to high quality, intensive support for every child teen and adult regardless of location, background, or story. We are dedicated to ensuring each individual feels deeply supported, truly heard and fully validated empowering them to achieve transformative, life long change.
Our team practices through the BRAVE Framework for Trauma-Informed Care, supporting healing through presence, understanding, and empowerment.
B — BE PRESENT & SAFE
Create safety in every interaction through calm presence and connection.
“Safety is not the absence of threat. It’s the presence of connection.”
R — RECOGNIZE TRAUMA IMPACT
Understand that trauma shapes responses; approach with curiosity, not judgment.
“What happened to you?” is more healing than “What’s wrong with you?”
A — ACKNOWLEDGE & VALIDATE
Listen deeply, reflect feelings, and remind clients they’re not alone.
V — VOICE & EMPOWER CHOICE
Collaborate and honor each client’s autonomy, culture, and identity.
E — ENCOURAGE HEALING & RESILIENCE
Celebrate progress, reinforce hope, and believe that healing is possible.
BRAVE isn’t just a framework—it’s a way of being.
